We had a great year in 2007 with eight new shows around the UK. You can now view some of the highlights of the shows below. Unfortunately (for boring copyright reasons) we're not able to show film clips from Mort or Oh! Carol.

SCOTLAND

Great Expectations  (Aberdeen International Youth Festival)     Film
Written and directed by Gerry Flanagan; music by Annemarie Lewis-Thomas; choreography by Sheena Kelly; designed by Emily Raemaker
Great Expectations as you have never seen it before.  Invigorating, comic and heart-breaking with an original blend of song, clowning and physical storytelling theatre in which members of the audience become collaborators in the creation of Pip’s world.

Force 9½  (Edinburgh Theatre Workshop at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe)     Film

John Nicholson, the founding performer/creator of the physical theatre company Peepolykus, brought his wildly whacky style of comedy to YMT: UK. The production transferred from the Edinbrgh Frnge Festival to the Perfect Pitch Fesival in London

A response to the passover story composed by Belfast born Conor Mitchell, winner of Best Composer Award at the 2007 New York Festival of Musical Theatre. Music by the Ulster Youth Orchestra.

Oh Carol (Belfast Queen’s Film Theatre)
Directed by Syd Ralph; composer Mark Dougherty; choreographer Deborah Maguire; with the songs of Neil Sedaka
Using the huge catalogue of music by one of the 20th century's most prolific songwriters, YMT: UK created a hugely popular song and dance show.

ENGLAND

Frankenstein (Plymouth Barbican Theatre)     Film

Murder, horror, loss of innocence and an unstoppable voyage into the darkest recesses of the human soul overwhelm all those involved.  Experience the final desperate journey of Victor Frankenstein as he attempts to hunt down his nemesis in the frozen wastes of the far north.

Grace Online (Plymouth Barbican Theatre)     Film

A postmodern operetta which explores the notion of online identity. We use myspace, bebo, youtube, and modern technology to attempt self-expression, and individuality but are we succeeding?

Terry Pratchett's Mort (Manchester Library Theatre)
Adapted from the novel by librettist Jenifer Toksvig  and composer Dominic Haslam; directed by Clive Paget; musical direction Mark Dougherty; choreographer Sam Spencer Lane; costumes designed by Lesly Hill
Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job. After being assured that being dead was not compulsory, Mort accepted. However, he soon found that romantic longings did not mix easily with the responsibilities of being Death’s apprentice.

Rare Dreams (Downside School and Abbey, Somerset)     Film

Rare Dreams explored the mythic aspect of dreams: the imagery and symbols that unite human beings across cultures and beyond sociopolitical and emotional/psychological differences.
